Archery ingested just a little corner of the start up business whoever primary line had been silk-screening as well as other marketing work with the most important automotive manufacturers. Although Fred made bows for himself and buddies, it absolutely wasn’t until 1938 whenever Fred hired a rather skilled woodworker from Detroit because of the title of Nels Grumley that the Bear Products business line expanded to add bows.

By 1940 the archery line had grown to the level where Fred decided to sell his part out for the marketing company to his partner and continue steadily to pursue their hobby/business because the Bear Archery business. Days were tough, but Fred had been a really good company guy, plus the company proceeded to grow before the move from Detroit to a whole new plant which Fred had finished in Grayling in 1947.
